At Windsong Chimes we recently received a message from a customer in Arizona, USA that reminded us just how deep and meaningful the sound of our chimes can be.
Anthony, a crisis counsellor for a police department in Arizona, purchased one of our handcrafted wind chimes as a memorial to his two beloved Police Crisis K9 partners: K9 Fozzie and K9 Chase.
“I just got my wind chimes and they are truly a work of art! The sounds are even better than advertised and I am so grateful. If my house ever caught fire I would save my dog and my wind chimes and bail out!”
This quote made us smile — but the story behind it moved us.
K9 Fozzie: A True Trailblazer
In 2008, K9 Fozzie became the first full-time Police Crisis canine in the USA. As a Police Crisis Intervention Specialist, his handler Anthony and Fozzie responded to 911 emergencies, offering support to victims and witnesses during some of the darkest moments of their lives.
Fozzie, described as a “real life teddy bear”, offered comfort, calm, and unconditional presence to so many who needed it most.
K9 Chase: A Loyal Heart
After Fozzie’s passing, K9 Chase, a beautiful chocolate Labrador, became the next partner. With equal dedication and heart, Chase carried on the important work, helping countless people navigate trauma and loss.
Tragically, Chase was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2024 and passed away just a month later.
“Spending every hour of every day with a K9 partner was an honour and privilege. Losing any four-legged family member is always difficult — but even more so when you live and work alongside these noble creatures.”
A sound that holds a memory
We were honoured to engrave the names of K9 Fozzie and K9 Chase on the chime - a gesture of thanks and deep respect. The chime now hangs on a covered patio in Arizona, gently singing its tribute in the breeze.
“Your chimes mean the world to me, and I will treasure them. Thank you guys so much.”
To Anthony - thank you for the work you do, for the love you gave, and for allowing our chimes to play a part in such a meaningful tribute. From Australia to Arizona, may the music always carry their memory.
