Due to its invasive nature replacing native vegetation, logging camphor laurel is considered an environmental necessity. It often has spectacular colour and grain and is used for the sail.
The Camphor Laurel sail is handcrafted into 3D curved S and leaf shapes cut from solid blocks, ensuring it retains it's shape and catches the wind long into the future. For more information about camphor, please read our Camphor Laurel blog post.
Sometimes our sails will have knots, or holes from old knots and we consider this a natural feature.
Depending on market conditions we may use timbers other than the above. We sometimes use Silky Oak or Queensland Maple and we never use timber sourced from clear fell logging of old growth forest.
